Lee County has unique challenges related to water quality and the growth of Harmful Algal Blooms in its coastal habitat. Human impact, including the overloading of nutrients in stormwater runoff, contributed to the worsening of the blooms in recent years. In response, our team developed “Our Water Story,” a social media campaign paired with an interactive educational website to help residents and visitors understand the challenges and how they could contribute to improving water quality in Lee County. In addition to the concept and strategy development, my team and I also developed the graphics, videos, and interactive website entirely in-house.

We built the interactive website using ArcGIS Storymaps, combining creative imagery with historical and scientific data to tell an accurate and educational story about water quality in Lee County.

The social media campaign included videos and promotional posts to drive public awareness of the new educational resources. After the initial launch, we pivoted the campaign to brand our water quality content to help unify public perception of the issue.
